SSD RAID 10

SSD RAID 10

An SSD RAID 10 array provides the necessary performance to ensure that all customers on a SSD vServer host always have sufficient write and read performance. Among other things, it was ensured that the SWAP partitions are not operated on the same data array as the data partition. This has the advantage that a virtual machine that does not have sufficient RAM can not burden the SSD data array additionally. During a test run for the Harddisk performance from the virtual machine, we achieved a read / write performance of 400-600 MB / s and an IO performance of approx. 105,000 IOPS .

Linux Operating Systems

Linux Operating Systems

Especially the operating system diversity distinguishes our Linux vServer. No matter if Para- or HVM virtualized machine, all current and exotic Linux Operating Systems are available for installation at any time. Should a desired operating system not be available in our selection, you are welcome to order it via our Customer Support. We will then check the operating system and create a suitable installation package individually. The Operating Systems themselves are periodically updated and maintained by our technical support.

Current Linux kernel

Current Linux kernel

As a rule, our technicians test new kernel versions for use in our system landscape. Standard operating system kernels are mostly at a very old version level and are not updated very frequently. We therefore use only self-compiled Xen kernels from kernel.org. This allows us to run our server systems and virtual machines always on a current kernel version of kernel.org. Starting with kernel version 4, it is now possible to update an operating system kernel on the fly.

Root password

Root password

Once you forget the root password for your Linux virtual machine, then is this no problem. You always have the option of using the vServer administrative area to assign a new root password to the virtual machine without having to contact our customer support. However, this functionality is only available for para-virtualized machines. For HVM virtualized machines, this option is unfortunately not available, as this type of virtualization has its own data container on the server itself, which is completely independent of the vServer Host is running.

Rescue Console

Rescue Console

Each Linux vServer has its own Rescue Console. This Rescue Console allows you to access the system at any time via a vServer-independent console in the vServer management area, for example to identify and resolve errors when booting the virtual machine. Also, possible error configurations on the virtual machine can be quickly identified and analyzed.

Tun/Tap Support

Tun/Tap Support

TUN and TAP are virtual network kernel drivers that simulate network devices on the software side. The support of TUN and TAP is especially needed in the area of VPN (Virtual Private Networks). The TUN / TAP support is completely given for each of our virtualization variants (HVM and para-virtualization) and activated in the kernel on the host system side. TUN and TAP can therefore be used without restriction on the virtual instances.
